Council on Field Education
The Council on Field Education has three program goals:

  1. To launch 2 Field Director Development Institutes (FDDI) at the 2008 APM in Philadelphia, and, if successful, to see them institutionalized at every APM thereafter. One would be for new Field Directors, and the other would be for experienced Field Directors.
  2. To Plan and Implement a Summit on Field Education as the Signature Pedagogy of Social Work Education at the 2009 APM in San Antonio.
  3. To study the composition of the Council on Field Education and make recommendations to the Council for the future with the goal of making appointments both transparent and representative of various constituencies.
To accomplish these goals:

  1. All members of the COFE have committed to attend the next 2 APM's.
  2. All members have agreed to participate in a discussion board set up for us by CSWE.
  3. Discussions have already started with CSWE (2 FDDI's for 2008 have been approved and Summit for 2009 has been approved). Members have already volunteered to staff the 2 FDDI's in 2008.
